Choose the right layout for a successful meeting!

You have been preparing for your next meeting for several weeks to strengthen the cohesion of your team.

You have found the perfect place, sent theagenda to the participants and fine-tune your presentation.

What about thelayout of your meeting room ? Round or rectangular table, U-shaped room, theatre room, classroom...

What configuration should I use?

Round Table

Do you know why King Arthur gathered his knights around a round table?

So that everyone is at an equal distance from the Grail. The round table is the ideal arrangement if you want to be on the same level as your participants. It reminds them that teamwork is more important than individuality. In addition, the round table encourages discussion and brainstorming.

The theatre hall

The theatre room is composed of several rows of chairs facing the presenter or speaker. This configuration is often used for seminars or the product launchesWhen you want to put a person or an object in the spotlight. It allows to place many chairs and to optimize the space if the participants are numerous, but the exchanges are limited.

The U-shaped table

This arrangement is possible if you are organising a meeting with a group of about thirty people. Neither too formal nor too academic, the U-shaped table is much appreciated by participants, as it offers good visibility while maintaining a certain distance. However, the use of space is far from optimal, and this arrangement is not always possible in small rooms. The U-shaped table is an excellent choice for lively presentations.

The classroom

The classroom may make you smile at first sight because of its school aspect. Nevertheless, this arrangement is ideal for exams, presentations and pair work. The participants can see the speaker perfectly and can take their notes comfortably.

Remember to leave a central aisle. This will allow you to go towards the group during your intervention and follow the progress of their work if you plan workshops.

Rectangular table

This configuration, very classical, is very used by the steering committees and the boards of directors. You can also opt for this arrangement for small groups of less than ten people.

The advantage of the rectangular table is that there is a centre, and the person in the centre draws the attention of the other participants.

In addition, chairs placed opposite each other also encourage interaction. The main disadvantage of the rectangular table is that it is difficult for people at either end to communicate.

As you can see: the configuration of your meeting room must be adapted to the nature of your event,

to your objectives and the size of the group.

Now all you have to do is check one last time that the equipment you will be using is working properly.
